PD is a Professor of Mathematical Modelling and Epidemiology, originally trained in mathematics (Cambridge) and theoretical physics (Imperial College London). He held postdocs in infectious disease modelling at Imperial and LSHTM, before moving to Sheffield. PD is interested in developing modelling and statistical methods to better understand disease burden and epidemiology (particularly for tuberculosis), and to interpret and evaluate interventions. He is particularly interested in systematic screening for tuberculosis, interventions to improve detection and management of paediatric tuberculosis. Within this project he is leading modelling work on the population cost and health consequences of vaccine manufacturing and supply processes.
