TvdH is a Professor of Systems Biology at the University of Kent. His group studies molecular mechanisms that determine the efficiency with which gene transcripts are translated into proteins, using a combination of computational and experimental tools. He has a track record in collaborative work developing efficient gene design for industrial applications. Recently he and his group have begun to apply knowledge gained from the design of industrial expression systems to the design of efficient RNA Therapeutics, with support from the Wellcome Leap “RNA Readiness and Response” program and a Royal Society Industry Fellowship.
